Then, follow these:
PRESENTATION TIPS
- Practice, Practice, Practice
- Know your audience – talk to attendees – understand their expectations
- PowerPoint slides – clean, simple,
- Do not apologize – nervous, cluttered slide, etc.
- Rule of Three – 3 reasons, 3 points, etc.
- Don’t read the slides or the script
- Memorize the first 30 seconds – opening
- Use research, studies to support your point
- Proof – grammar, spelling, etc.
- Murphy’s Law – prepare a contingency plan
- Stay on time
- Engage, involve the audience
- Dress appropriately
- Do not underestimate the time to prepare
- Content is more important than pretty slides
- Check the room layout
- Check out the equipment
- Do not procrastinate
- Anticipate questions – prepare responses
- Teamwork – rehearse thoroughly
- Start and end on time
- Use technology to practice – PowerPoint tools, iPhone voice recorder, video, etc.
And remember,
THE PRESENTER’S CREED (THE THREE T’S)
- Make your opening statement
- Tell them what you are going to tell them
- Tell them
- Tell them what you told them
And last, but not least!
