Giving Back Is the Right Thing to Do!

Pat Knoerle-Jordan, Partner and Nonprofit Practice Leader

Five local agencies were selected for the Pro Bono Capacity Building Projects provided to area nonprofits by Experience on Demand (EOD).  EOD and all of its’ partners share a long tradition and value of giving back to the community. Often that takes the form of serving on nonprofit agency boards, committees, being active in our church or faith home, or coaching little league soccer.  We recognize that nonprofit organizations provide the safety net in all of our communities.

Therefore, we established our Pro Bono Capacity Building Project.  All of the 24 nonprofit applicants had compelling missions and fill critical needs – making our decision-making process a challenge. After healthy deliberation, we selected 5 agencies, who articulated their mission well and shared how our pro bono consulting services would solve a dilemma, give them better tools, engage their board, and improve their capacity for sustainability and growth. They illustrated their ‘before and after picture’ of desired impact and why now was the essential time for an infusion of our consultation.

Why pro bono projects you ask?   Of course, EOD is growing our nonprofit client practice, yet we know the need is great and we wanted to be deliberate, and planful of our grant pro bono projects throughout the course of the year. This year our pro bono projects are underway and being implemented from July 2017 to June 2018.

Drum roll please, for the selected agencies and the projects are;

  • Better Family Life, North St. Louis, MO – Strategic Plan
  • NextStep for Life, Jefferson County, MO – Annual Campaign Analysis and Plan
  • Affton Christian Food Pantry, Affton, MO – Board Effectiveness Retreat
  • University City Children’s Center and LUME, UCity, MO – Board Retreat
  • Senior Services Plus, Alton, IL – Board Effectiveness Retreat

We are proud of the work of these agencies and honored to be their consulting partner on these projects and part of their team.
